Rhodium plating is a bright protective finish that is used on jewelry as a protectant from tarnish, acids or corrosive substances. Rhodium is electroplated to jewelry surfaces that remain scratch resistant, bright and attractive for years. Am I still getting sterling silver jewelry? Rhodium plating has no effect on sterling silver. If you received a knockoff of sterling silver the rhodium plating had nothing to do with it.

Another big clue that the jewelry you are buying might not be a diamond is the cost. Diamonds will run, depending on the size, from $50-$1000+. CubicZirconia does not have cleavages, making them less brittle and susceptible to chips and cracks than diamonds. Another really easy way to check if you have a cz or a diamond...breath on it. A real diamond will be clear, while a cz fogs up.

I bought a ring on QVC, they said the stones were Diamonique. Is this a new type of diamond? Diamonique® is a brand name of cubic zirconia stones. They are not diamonds. I contacted QVC about their advertising, and if they were using the word diamond too loosely. They emailed me back-they stated it clearly is listed that diamonique ® are " simulated diamonds". It does state this more than twice in the ads I looked at. This is one of those cases of "buyer be aware". If you don't understand an ad or how it is listed, contact the seller, I am sure they won't mind. Who says no to publicity!
